Find My Profession â€" Mike Podestos Fake Reviews Other Claims Beginning in February 2018, Mike Podesto, owner of a Parker, Colorado   resume writing firm (see findmyprofession.com), started writing reviews that troll hundreds of professional resume writers, including me.  Mike PodestoMike is a 27-year-old Internet marketer who sells resume services to people looking for jobs. Hes not one of my clients or a business associate in any way.Mike Podestos Reviews on FindMyProfession.comMike has attacked/tried to divert business from U.S., Canadian, Australian, Asian, and European resume writing services and resume writers. His actions include:Inaccurate, negative descriptions of resume writing services.Fake one-star reviews of companies he regards as competitors.Libelous accusations regarding those companies.Fake five-star reviews of his own company on Trustpilot and other third-party review sites.Responses to Mikes BehaviorIn 2019, the Better Business Bureau asked Mike to substantiate or remove his claims from his website and other locations. They t hen censured him when he didnt take action. As a result, he has now:Removed some of his fake reviews from third-party sites.Added a link to an advertising disclosure on some of the reviews on his website, findmyprofession.com. However, he doesnt disclose hs egregious conflicts of interest on the face of his reviews.Beyond the BBB, as different organizations have become aware of his behavior, they have restricted his ability to post on their sites. Mike now appears to be mostly constrained to posting his attacks on competitors to his website, findmyprofession.com.In addition, in April 2019, one of the subjects of Mikes harassment filed suit against him. The federal court proceeding alleged libel, libel per se, deceptive or unfair conduct, and material misrepresentation. Those are deceptive reviews designed to game the Google algorithm.   They divert traffic looking for a geographically or functionally specialized resume writer or coach and executive recruiters to a 27-year-old who cant, by his admission, find a good job for himself.That person is a few years out of Fresno State and spent less than a year recruiting junior software developers before proclaiming himself a career expert.The Benefits of Being Trolled by Mike Pode stoRegardless of what becomes of Mike and his marketing practices, I have found a bright side to being trolled.
